Saugeen Memorial Healthcare Foundation

The 8th annual 97.9 The Bruce Light The Way Radiothon in support of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation is an all-day long event from 6am-6pm rases money to purchase equipment for the local hospital. This year the foundation raised money for cardiac monitors for inpatients and also for the renovation and expansion of the nurses station, which hasn’t been updated since the 1960s.

The day was filled with a lot of fun and fundraising, and Bruce Telecom was proud to make a donation towards this initiative.

This year, thanks to a lot of amazing donors, ,they raised just over $231,500 to support local healthcare.

The importance of supporting organizations like this symbolizes a commitment to better healthcare, ensuring that local Saugeen Shores residents have access to the best medical care. Bruce Telecom’s support of this showcases the belief that everyone in the community deserves access to the best possible healthcare resources.

Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation

The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation was established in 1995 as a non for profit charitable organization. The foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that is committed on representing the people of Kincardine and surrounding communities.

This year, the foundation put on their annual radiothon with Shoreline Classics at Trillium Court to raise money for the new state-of-the-art Bone Density Machine (BMD). BMD aids in the detection of individuals with low bone density and assess their fracture risk. With this machine, healthcare providers will be able to intervene early and effectively to promote bone health and prevent further fractures. They currently do have a BMD Machine, but it is functioning on outdated software that is no longer supported and by replacing it, it will avoid lengthy downtown and long periods of no access.

This year in particular, was the first year since the pandemic that they have been able to put on this event and they were so excited. Bruce Telecom reached out with a donation towards the BMD machine.

The importance of such a machine goes beyond its diagnostic capabilities. It symbolizes a commitment to preventive healthcare, ensuring that residents of Kincardine have access to state-of-the-art equipment that can detect and address health concerns before they escalate. Bruce Telecom’s support of this showcases the belief that everyone in the community deserves access to the best possible healthcare resources.
