BRUCE TELECOM BRINGING FIBRE TO THE HOME SERVICE TO CHESLEY RESIDENTIAL IN APRIL 2019

Chesley, Ontario – Bruce Telecom is bringing Fibre to the Home Service to the residents of Chesley beginning in April 2019. Fibre optic service offers the fastest Internet speeds available, operating at the speed of light. By the time construction is complete, bandwidth capacity for Fibre to the Home Service will be offered at up to 1 gigabit per second to each home.
“It is a tremendous opportunity for Bruce Telecom to connect with the community of Chesley. We look forward to meeting all of the local residents and business owners very soon,” said Tom Sullivan at the Arran-Elderslie Municipal Council Chambers on January 14, 2019.

Construction will begin with the installation of conduits on the North side of the river, followed by the South side of the river, moving from East to West in each residential area. Downtown businesses will be serviced in the final phase of the project. Construction will commence in April.

A temporary pop-up store will open downtown on 64 1st Avenue South, next to the McIntee Real Estate office this spring and will be occupied until late autumn. The store will allow residents to sign up for the many highspeed Internet, phone, TV, streaming, wireless phone and bundling options in person.

Bruce Telecom will communicate the progress of each phase and will be setting up a phoneline dedicated to the project. A community townhall meeting will be scheduled in the coming months.

The Bruce Telecom story began when a group of farmers got together in 1911 to form the Bruce Municipal Telephone System. Now over 100 years later, with 75 employees and three stores all within surrounding communities, Bruce Telecom has positioned itself as a communications leader within the region.
