Chantry Chinook Salmon Fishing Derby
The first Lake Huron Fish club fish enhancement project was the construction of a chinook salmon production facility in the Town of Port Elgin. To fund the construction and operation of this project, they created The Chantry Chinook Classic Salmon Derby was born and in 1983 and is now a 16-day event.
The Chantry Chinook Classic Salmon Derby has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Lake Huron Fishing club to fund a variety of community projects.
This year the annual derby wrapped up for 2023 with 1530 fish weighed in and $15,000 to $20,000 raised to go towards the Lake Huron Fishing Club’s stocking program.
