Prance
Pegasus Riding Association Nurturing Challenged Equestrians is a therapeutic equestrian center dedicated to the growth and development of individuals with intellectual, physical and emotional disabilities through experiences with horses. Located in Port Elgin, Ontario, their specially trained and certified instructors lead participants through riding, grooming, tacking-up and trail-riding experiences designed to enlighten, strengthen and challenge each person.
They also offer weekly, daytime, fully integrated horse camps during March Break, July and August. Jessica Towriss, Marketing Coordinator for Bruce Telecom, made a visit to the Prance facility to get a closer look at their programs in action. She was able to witness firsthand the dedication and care that goes into each session, along with the positive impact these programs have on participants. The facility itself was filled with an infectious energy, brimming with life and happiness. From the staff to the participants, there was a strong sense of enthusiasm and community that made the entire experience truly special. Prance offers not only incredible programs but also a welcoming and uplifting environment for all involved.
Horse-back riding has long been recognized as a therapeutic treatment with many physical, cognitive and social benefits. This is why Bruce Telecom sponsors this program yearly. They offer a multitude of different programs with amazing benefits for everyone. We were invited to tour the facilities again this year and meet a bunch of amazing volunteers and the most adorable horses.
This organization is a volunteer-driven, and is always looking to have people join their team! You can check out their website for all information on the programs they offer and any available volunteer opportunities.
