Bruce Telecom Celebrates 115 Years of Connecting Communities

TIVERTON, ON – February 2, 2026: Bruce Telecom is celebrating a major milestone in 2026, marking 115 years of serving and connecting local communities across Bruce County and surrounding areas. What began as a small, community-driven communications service in the early 1900s has grown into a modern telecommunications provider delivering fibre internet, phone, and technology solutions to thousands of homes and businesses, while remaining rooted in local values.

Founded in 1911, Bruce Telecom was built to meet a simple but essential need: helping neighbours stay connected. From early telephone lines serving rural communities, through cable television expansion, and now into full fibre-optic networks and advanced digital services, the organization has continuously evolved alongside changing technology and customer expectations.

“Telecommunications has changed dramatically over the past century, but our purpose really hasn’t,” said Stephanie Brunato, General Manager, Bruce Telecom. “We’ve always been about serving our community first. Every major shift in technology has required us to adapt, invest, and learn, but our focus has stayed the same: delivering reliable service, supporting local growth, and showing up for the people who rely on us.”

That ability to pivot has helped Bruce Telecom remain competitive in an increasingly crowded market, while still operating with the agility and care of a locally rooted organization. Recent recognition for operational excellence and innovation reinforces that local companies can lead in technology while maintaining deep community connections.

“Being a community-based provider gives us the flexibility to respond quickly to change and to invest where it matters most,” said Raymond Lahoud, President, Bruce Telecom.  “We’re driven by the communities we live and work in, and that allows us to make long-term decisions that benefit our customers and our region.”

Celebrating with the Community

To mark its 115th anniversary, Bruce Telecom is rolling out a year-long series of community-focused initiatives designed to give back, celebrate customer loyalty, and recognize the people who have supported the company for generations.
Bruce Telecom has committed $50,000 toward the Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre, supporting a project that will benefit residents, families, and future generations across the region.

“This investment reflects what this anniversary truly means to us,” Brunato added. “It’s about strengthening the community that has supported us for over a century and helping build infrastructure that improves quality of life locally.”

Throughout 2026, Bruce Telecom will randomly select customers each month to receive prizes ranging from service credits to local gift cards and branded swag, as a thank-you for their continued support. These draws will be shared across Bruce Telecom’s social channels to highlight customer stories and community connections.

Customers who participate in select promotions during the year will be entered into a year-end grand prize draw, with one lucky winner receiving up to a full year of eligible Bruce Telecom services. “These initiatives are our way of celebrating alongside our customers,” said Stephanie. “Our success over the past 115 years is directly tied to the trust and loyalty of the people we serve.”

As part of the anniversary celebration, Bruce Telecom will also be sharing historic photos, employee stories, community partnerships, and milestones throughout the year across its website, social media, and local media channels, under the theme “115 Years of Connection.”

“We’re proud of where we’ve come from, but we’re just as excited about what’s ahead,” said Brunato. “Technology will keep changing, and we’ll keep evolving with it, while staying grounded in the same community-first values that started this company more than a century ago.”
